Part-Time (20–30 hours/week) $18.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Position Summary

The Communications & Digital Content Coordinator is responsible for creating and sharing the stories that connect the community with the Salina Art Center. This position develops engaging visual and written content for social media, email marketing, text messaging, the website, and public calendars while documenting exhibitions, events, classes, films, and community experiences through photography and graphic design.

Working closely with the Executive Director and program staff, this position ensures the Art Center maintains a consistent, professional, and engaging public presence across all communication platforms.

The ideal candidate is creative, highly organized, visually driven, and an excellent storyteller who understands how different audiences engage with digital content.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Content Creation

· Photograph exhibitions, events, classes, artists, films, and community programs.

· Design graphics for social media, email campaigns, print materials, and digital advertising.

· Create short-form video content including reels and stories.

· Maintain a library of high-quality photos and video assets.

 

Social Media

· Plan and schedule daily content across multiple social media platforms.

· Write engaging captions that reflect the Art Center’s voice.

· Promote exhibitions, films, education programs, memberships, fundraising, rentals, and special events.

· Monitor comments and messages and respond or route inquiries appropriately.

· Track engagement and recommend improvements.

 

Communications

· Create weekly email newsletters using Constant Contact.

· Develop segmented email campaigns for specific audiences.

· Write and distribute press releases.

· Manage text message marketing campaigns.

· Update website announcements and promotional content.

· Maintain event listings on community calendars and tourism websites.

 

Marketing Support

· Produce posters, flyers, postcards, digital ads, and promotional graphics.

· Support fundraising campaigns, membership drives, and special events through digital communications.

 

Calendar & Information Management

· Maintain public event calendars.

· Ensure consistency of dates, times, pricing, and event descriptions across all platforms.

· Coordinate with staff to keep promotional information current.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

· Strong photography skills with a portfolio demonstrating composition, lighting, and editing.

· Experience creating graphics using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.

· Excellent writing and proofreading skills.

· Experience managing social media business accounts.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends for exhibition openings, special events, and community programs.

 

Preferred

· Experience with:

o Constant Contact

o SMS/text marketing platforms

o Adobe Creative Cloud

o Canva Pro

o Google Workspace

o Squarespace or website content management systems

· Basic video editing skills (Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut, or similar).

· Evening and weekend availability required for exhibition openings, First Fridays, fundraising events, and occasional community programs.

 

Compensation & Benefits

· $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience.
