TITLE	Self-Direction Specialist
DESCRIPTION	As a Self-Direction Specialist, you will provide skills training to those individuals who are choosing to be ’employers’ by self-directing their own services. Self-direction is designed to ensure that those with disabilities receiving care in their home are empowered to make decisions about the services they receive and the individuals who provide them. Persons with disabilities maintain the right and responsibility to choose that the services and supports they are receiving are meeting their individual needs. Self-Direction Specialists assist these individuals with each phase, from understanding the initial enrollment process, to helping navigate the state/federal systems, and ensuring they are getting the most from all available services. Self-Direction Specialists offer ongoing supports as needed to these self-directing ’employers’. They keep them informed of all resources available to them, and work to ensure the highest quality of services is being offered and delivered.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS	Highly organized Strong written and verbal communications skills Problem-solving skills Strong computer skills Excellent customer service Home visits and travel required – must have valid KS drivers license and driving record must meet the criteria of the auto insurance company providing coverage for OCCK vehicles Must be able to work with a diverse group of people Attend and maintain all trainings and certifications as assigned or required Must have a strong belief that all people have the same rights Work well as a team, and participate in staff meetings Willingness to learn all HCBS waivers and federal/state regulations and the ability to teach them to others Flexible hours to meet the needs of customers Maintain and perform other duties as assigned by the FMS Coordinator or President/CEO
