Job Summary:

Operate CNC machines to cut, shape, drill, bore, thread, or finish metal workpieces according to specifications. This role also includes operating engine lathes and boring mills. Experience with G-code programming is preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Lift, position, and secure workpieces in lathe centers, chucks, fixtures, or automatic loading mechanisms on a daily basis.

– Monitor machining operations to identify malfunctions or excessive tool wear.

– Inspect finished workpieces to ensure they meet required specifications.

– Replace worn or damaged tools as needed.

– Machine plastic and other non-metallic materials when required.

– Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

– Ability to read and understand basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

– Ability to write simple correspondence.

– Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

 

Education and Experience:

– High school diploma or GED required.

– Minimum of six (6) months of related experience and/or training preferred.

 

Independent Judgment:

– Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.

– Ability to work in standardized situations with minimal variables.

 

Working Conditions:

– Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.

– Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.

– Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.

– Work environment is typically loud.

 

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

– Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
