About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our customer support team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Pavement Preservation Equipment manufactured by Bergkamp for our end customers. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our customers’ equipment is operating safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. You will work closely with our team of mechanics to diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and develop and implement effective repair solutions in our shop and occasionally onsite for our customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three to five years automotive mechanical, welding, electrical or other related experience
- Ability to use common mechanic tools such as electric and air tools as well as ability to operate a forklift Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Ability to write technical reports and documents
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel domestic and international overnight, including weekends up to twenty-five (25%) percent of the time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers and management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers and management
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products and ERP system initiating RMA’s, initiating service orders, and reviewing transactions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customer equipment as necessary in a shop or field environment and provide phone support to resolve customer equipment operating issues
- Instruct customers and/or employees on Bergkamp equipment and machines, as well as machine maintenance and repair
- Responsible for leading and performing equipment start-ups and provide training to crews and fleet services
- Assist engineers and product managers with design issues, providing feedback from the field
- Assist sales team and product managers with customer questions regarding equipment operations
- Complete final inspection of manufactured equipment prior to release from production
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Contributes to team effort by actively participating in team meetings.
Skills:
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will use your knowledge of heavy equipment, mechanical and hydraulic systems to diagnose and repair a variety of issues for customers’ Bergkamp pavement preservation equipment. You will use your knowledge of Bergkamp manufactured equipment to train customers in the proper use and maintenance of their equipment to ensure that our customers’ equipment is operating safely and efficiently providing them with the best opportunity to be productive with Bergkamp equipment.
